Lake Fire Explodes in Santa Barbara County, Threatens Homes and Neverland Ranch
A massive wildfire, dubbed the "Lake Fire," is raging across Santa Barbara County, California.
Since its ignition near Zaca Lake on Friday afternoon, the blaze has exploded in size, scorching over 16,000 acres and threatening homes and landmarks.
Lake Fire Challenges Firefighters Amidst Dry Conditions and Heatwave
Firefighters are facing a monumental challenge containing the Lake Fire. The blaze has grown rapidly over the past 48 hours, fueled by extreme dryness and scorching temperatures plaguing Southern California.
Over 600 firefighters are battling the flames on the ground, supported by helicopters and air tankers.

The relentless wildfire has already caused significant damage. One structure has been destroyed, and tragically, one person has been injured.
Firefighters are particularly concerned about protecting homes in the path of the flames, including the historic Neverland Ranch, formerly owned by Michael Jackson.
Lake Fire Evacuation Orders Issued as Blaze Spreads
The rapid spread of the Lake Fire has necessitated evacuations in the surrounding areas. An evacuation order is in effect for residents living along Figueroa Mountain Road from Sawmill Basin down to Tunnel Road and the Figueroa Campground.
Additionally, evacuation warnings have been issued for residents on Figueroa Mountain Road to Chamberlin Ranch, Zaca Lake Road, Foxen Canyon Road, and the region south of the Sisquoc River.
Lake Fire Adds to California’s Wildfire Woes
The Lake Fire is one of several wildfires currently burning out of control across California.
The situation is particularly dire in Butte County, where the Thompson Fire has destroyed over a dozen homes. The Basin Fire near Fresno is also causing significant concern, having already consumed more than 14,000 acres.
The cause of the Lake Fire remains under investigation. Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the blaze and protect lives and property.
