- A Hot Air Balloon Crashed on Monday, Authorities identified a pilot and three passengers, all dead.

- The Hot Air Balloon had been carrying 13 adults, the operator, four passengers, and eight skydivers, three passengers and a pilot died, and other passengers were seriously injured Mayor Micah Powell reported at a news conference.
According to Powell, "the world's largest drop zone" for skydivers is where the impact occurred.

Chief Byron Gwaltney From the Eloy police department said, eight skydivers survived the tragedy in "an empty field in a desert area" of Eloy, a city in Pinal County about 65 miles southeast of Phoenix and 55 miles northeast of Tucson, Arizona. Shortly after the skydivers completed a jump from the balloon, Gwaltney said, “Something catastrophic occurred with the balloon, causing it to crash to the ground."
- The hot air balloon pilot was identified by Eloy authorities as 37-year-old Cornelius Van Der Walt, a South African-born Eloy resident.
- The three passengers who perished were named Chayton Wiescholek, 28, of Union City, Michigan; Kaitlynn Bartrom, 28, of Andrews, Indiana; and Atahan Kiliccote, 24, of Cupertino, California.
The Eloy Police Department released a statement, "We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives in the hot air balloon crashed"
Cause Of Hot Air Balloon Crashed?
Powell said "But eyewitnesses stated that in the last several seconds of the incident, the material of the hot air balloon was just straight up and down and the incident was fairly large,"
When the gondola crashed five people were inside officials said, and one died at the scene and three passengers were taken to a hospital and later declared dead.
Another passenger was taken to the trauma center and was in critical condition, Powell said.
