Biden Campaign Raises $51 Million in April, Holds $192 Million in Reserves

In April, President Biden's campaign collected $51 million in donations and currently holds $192 million in reserves as it heads into June, according to an announcement made on Monday.

Although the $51 million figure is lower than the $76 million raised by the Trump campaign during the same month, Biden campaign representatives highlighted their strong backing from grassroots contributors and emphasized their organizational strengths compared to the Trump campaign.

Grassroots Enthusiasm Fuels Biden Campaign

"April's fundraising results demonstrate strong, steady grassroots enthusiasm for reelecting Joe and Kamala, providing us with the resources to open offices, hire organizers, and communicate across battleground states to mobilize the coalition of voters crucial for this election," stated Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez.

She further remarked, "Trump’s campaign continues to deplete funds rapidly and falls behind our expanding and aggressive efforts, lacking a ground game and showing little interest in engaging with the necessary voters.

We are not complacent, but our campaign is the only one diligently working every day to earn voter support for November."

April’s Fundraising Highlights and Comparisons

The Biden campaign emphasized that most of its April funds came from grassroots donors and noted the addition of 1 million supporters to its email list during the month. They contrasted this with former President Trump’s fundraising, which has relied more on large events with wealthy donors.

The campaign announced that April was its best month so far for recurring donors, who contributed over $5.5 million.

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison on Grassroots Donors

“Our grassroots donors understand the importance of this election, are motivated to give and volunteer, and represent the diversity of America,” said Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Jaime Harrison.

“Their passion, strength, and belief in our country will help us achieve victory this November.”

Fundraising Comparison to March

April's fundraising total is notably lower than March's $90 million, which was bolstered by a major fundraiser in New York City with former Presidents Obama and Clinton.

Strategic Use of Financial Advantage

The Biden campaign has utilized its financial edge over the Trump campaign by running numerous television ads that criticize Trump’s stance on abortion, highlight Biden’s achievements, and aim to engage minority voters crucial for November's election.

Trump Campaign’s Limited Advertising and Legal Expenses

In contrast, the Trump campaign has aired few television ads and has limited on-the-ground offices in key swing states, with Election Day about five months away. Trump has also spent significant campaign funds on legal fees due to four criminal cases he is facing.

Trump Campaign Officials Downplay Biden’s Cash Advantage

Despite Biden's cash advantage, Trump campaign officials have minimized its significance, stating that Trump and his team will have sufficient resources to win in November.

Polls Show Trump Leading in Battleground States

Polls indicate that Trump is leading Biden in most battleground states likely to determine the November election outcome.

According to an average of polls by Decision Desk HQ/The Hill, Trump is ahead by 6 points in Arizona, 6 points in Georgia, 4 points in Michigan, 7 points in Nevada, 2 points in Pennsylvania, and 1 point in Wisconsin.
