On Sunday, May 26th, Murray's parents, Eric and Terry Murray, released a heartfelt statement on social media, revealing Golfer Grayson Murray's cause of death as suicide.
"Life wasn't always easy for Grayson," the statement, shared by the PGA Tour, read, "and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now."

The grieving family expressed the difficulty of coming to terms with their loss, describing the past 24 hours as a "nightmare." Despite the tragedy, they emphasized the outpouring of love for Murray, stating, "He was loved by us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of his extended family, by his friends, by his fellow players and – it seems – by many of you reading this."
Golfer Grayson Murray Battled Personal Struggles
Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner, was open about his struggles with mental health and alcoholism. While participating in the Charles Schwab Challenge this week, Murray withdrew from the event after 16 holes, following participation in the first round and part of the second.
"We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones," said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan on Saturday. "I contacted Grayson's parents to extend our deepest condolences. During our conversation, they insisted that we continue with the tournament play, as they were certain Grayson would have wanted us to."
