Reports indicate that among the injured soldiers, one is in serious condition while others have sustained moderate to minor injuries. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), an armed group, has claimed responsibility for detonating the bombs.
Intensified Violence and Casualties in the West Bank
This incident is part of a recent surge in violence in the West Bank, which has intensified since the onset of the Gaza Strip conflict. This conflict was sparked by Hamas’s deadly attack on southern Israel on October 7.
According to the UN, as of Monday, 536 Palestinians including members of armed groups, attackers, and civilians—have died in conflict-related incidents throughout the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The report notes that Israeli forces have killed at least 519 of these individuals, while Israeli settlers have been responsible for 10 deaths.
During the same period, the UN reports that 12 Israelis, including eight security forces personnel, have been killed in the West Bank. Additionally, eight Israelis have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians from the West Bank.
Escalating Arrests and Violations of Protocol
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society reported on Thursday morning that at least 28 Palestinians were arrested across the West Bank over the previous day, including nine from the Jenin governorate.
This brings the total number of arrests since October to 9,430. Jenin has frequently been the site of Israeli raids, with the military stating that these operations are aimed at targeting Hamas and PIJ operatives.
On Saturday, the Israeli military acknowledged that its forces violated protocol by tying a wounded Palestinian man to the front of their jeep during an operation in Jenin. This incident has raised concerns about the conduct of military operations and adherence to human rights standards.
Ongoing Conflict and Human Impact
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, a young Palestinian man was injured in the face by bullet shrapnel during the intense clashes that erupted during the raid. This incident is yet another example of the human toll and escalating violence in the region.
The killing of an Israeli soldier in Jenin and the subsequent clashes underscore the ongoing conflict and the complex dynamics in the West Bank. As the violence continues to escalate, the impact on both the Palestinian and Israeli communities remains profound and deeply troubling.
