Two victims were admitted to hospitals with serious injuries, while 16 others were transported in fair condition, with an additional 37 receiving on-site treatment.
Dave Sotero, a representative from LA Metro, stated that the bus veered into the path of an E Line train. Notably, the light rail line operates from East Los Angeles to downtown Santa Monica, primarily along streets where not all crossings are gated.
The most severely injured individuals were reported to be the bus driver and a passenger onboard, according to fire department spokesperson Nicholas Prange.
Sotero mentioned that the Los Angeles Police Department would lead the investigation, expressing Metro's condolences to those affected by the accident.
