Following the incident, Nicki Minaj apologized on the social media platform X, expressing her deepest and most sincere apologies. She revealed she spent a significant amount of time in custody, stating, "I sat in a jail cell for 5-6 hours." She also mentioned just arriving in Manchester a short time before the video.
Arrest Disrupts Concert Schedule
The "Barbie World" singer was slated to perform at Manchester's Co-op Live. However, before the concert, Nicki Minaj apologized via a livestreamed video on Instagram. The footage showed police officers in Amsterdam informing her of her arrest for allegedly carrying drugs, an accusation she denied.
Amsterdam authorities confirmed the arrest in a Dutch social media post, stating, "We have just released a 41-year-old American woman who we arrested this afternoon at Schiphol on suspicion of exporting soft drugs."
