How Toby Keith Died?
Country music star Toby Keith passed away on Monday night at the age of 62, following a battle with stomach cancer that began over two years ago.
In June 2022, Keith revealed on X that he had been diagnosed in the autumn of 2021 and had undergone chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
In June of the following year, he informed The Oklahoman newspaper in Oklahoma City that his tumor had decreased in size by one-third, and he was still undergoing chemotherapy. Additionally, he mentioned receiving immunotherapy, a treatment aiding the immune system in combating cancer cells.

His passing has reignited doctors' appeals for heightened awareness of stomach cancer symptoms, such as heartburn, acid reflux, anemia, nausea, ulcers, post-meal pain, sudden weight loss, or feeling full after consuming small portions.
Johnston stated that both doctors and patients might overlook symptoms like acid reflux, considering them harmless, which could lead to delays in diagnosis. He added that by the time symptoms become noticeable, many individuals already have advanced-stage disease.
Diagnosis Stomach Cancer
The average age for diagnosis is 68, with men having a slightly higher risk.
According to the American Cancer Society, almost 27,000 new cases of stomach cancer are expected to be diagnosed this year. However, the disease remains relatively uncommon, accounting for around 1.5% of new cancer cases in the U.S. annually.
While overall rates of stomach cancer diagnoses have slightly decreased over the past decade, there is a rising trend among adults under 50, for reasons that are not fully understood.
Dr. Ben Schlechter, a gastrointestinal medical oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, noted that there seems to be a modern and prevalent factor, such as dietary habits or environmental exposures, contributing to the increased incidence of stomach cancer in young people.
He mentioned that alcohol and tobacco, which were once major contributors to stomach cancer, now play a lesser role in the U.S., possibly due to reduced smoking rates.
