A small plane crash at Lafayette Municipal Airport on Sunday afternoon sent two people to the hospital, according to Macon County Sheriff Joseph Wilburn.
Plane Crash in Macon: Emergency Response and Investigation
Emergency responders rushed to the scene around 3:15 pm after reports of a plane crash. Sheriff Wilburn confirmed that two individuals, a man and a woman, were on board the aircraft.
The woman sustained serious injuries and required airlift to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.

Plane Crash in Macon: Cause Under Investigation
Authorities are working to determine the cause of the crash. Investigators are examining whether the incident occurred during takeoff or landing at the Lafayette Municipal Airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched a full investigation into the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also expected to be on-site on Monday to assist with the investigation.
The specific type of aircraft involved in the crash was identified as a Super Drifter.
