Rivals and Records

The four-day event concluded on Sunday at the Augusta National Golf Club, with Scheffler having led from the front since the earlier rounds.

This marked Scheffler's fifth appearance at the Masters and his second win, his first being in 2022 when he overtook golf star Rory McIlroy.

Close contenders included American Collin Morikawa and Sweden's Ludvig Åberg, who finished second at 7-under par.

Notably, golf legend Tiger Woods finished the tournament 16 over par but set a new Masters record by making the cut for a record 24th consecutive time.

Rising Stars and Veteran Challenges

Scheffler's victory at Augusta marks his ninth PGA Tour win, and he is now one of the youngest golfers to win multiple Masters, following legends like Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros. Meanwhile, Tiger Woods, despite struggling in the final rounds and scoring his worst-ever round at the Masters, marked his 100th round at the major.

Ludvig Åberg, a rising star in golf, nearly claimed victory in his first major tournament appearance, signaling a promising future ahead. Åberg, who turned professional last year, has already made significant strides in his career, including a victory at the RSM Classic.

A Tight Final Round

The final round was a nail-biter, with Scheffler's lead being challenged early on. He was tied for the lead with Morikawa, Homa, and Åberg by the 8th fairway.

After a shaky start with two bogeys, Scheffler regained his composure, managing a critical birdie on the 8th which was matched by Morikawa to keep the competition fierce.

The tournament continued to deliver thrilling moments, with Åberg briefly enjoying a co-lead after a stunning 36-foot birdie putt. However, Scheffler responded with an excellent iron shot that nearly earned him an eagle, eventually leading to a tap-in birdie that helped him regain and maintain the lead as they progressed.

The 2024 Masters Tournament was a showcase of both emerging talent and enduring skill, with Scottie Scheffler solidifying his status as a golfing great by securing his second green jacket. The event not only highlighted individual achievements but also set the stage for future contests in the golfing world.
