The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved Burton classic, "Beetlejuice," has unveiled its first-look images. After thirty-six years since its original release in 1988, Michael Keaton returns as the iconic "bio-exorcist" Betelgeuse, sporting his signature black and white striped look.

Burton and Keaton Discuss Sequel’s Emotional Depth
Director Burton, aged 65, who is back to direct the sequel, revealed to EW that both he and Keaton, aged 72, had discussed the possibility of a sequel for years. However, they were only willing to move forward if it felt right emotionally. Burton stated, "Unless it felt right, he had no burning desire to do it. I think we all felt the same way. It only made sense if it had an emotional hook."
The Afterlife’s Bureaucratic Maze
Since navigating the afterlife involves navigating a complex bureaucracy, the Maitlands sought the assistance of the obnoxious "bio-exorcist" Betelgeuse, portrayed by Keaton, to frighten away the Deetz family. The original film concludes with both the Deetz and Maitland families cohabiting in the house, albeit in an uneasy truce.
Details about the sequel's plot remain largely undisclosed, but Keaton, Ryder, and O'Hara are set to reprise their respective roles. Joining the cast, Jenna Ortega will portray Lydia's daughter, Astrid, while Justin Theroux has been added as a mysterious character named Rory. Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe complete the ensemble cast.
