Rumble Sues Google for $1 Billion
Rumble, a video-sharing platform, has filed a lawsuit against Google, accusing the tech giant of engaging in anticompetitive practices within the digital advertising landscape.
Rumble is seeking damages exceeding $1 billion in this lawsuit, which marks the second legal battle between the two companies.
Rumble Accuses Google of Monopolizing the Ad Stack
The core of Rumble's lawsuit centers around Google's alleged monopolization of the "ad stack." This refers to the various services and technologies involved in online advertising, encompassing ad buying, ad selling, and the platforms that connect advertisers and publishers.
Video sharing platform #Rumble said it has sued #Google, arguing the tech giant has engaged in anticompetitive practices across its range of digital advertising products and sought damages in excess of $1 billion.https://t.co/AfreuGkEWH

Rumble claims that Google has achieved this dominance through a series of acquisitions throughout the advertising chain.
This allows Google to act as both the seller (representing advertisers) and buyer (representing publishers) of online ads, while also controlling the marketplace where these transactions occur.
Rumble Alleges Google Stifles Competition with Facebook Deal
Furthermore, Rumble alleges that Google further strengthens its monopoly by maintaining an agreement with Meta, Facebook's parent company.
This deal allegedly restricts Facebook from developing its own ad tech ecosystem, hindering competition in the market.
Google Refutes Rumble’s Claims
In response to the lawsuit, Google has vehemently denied Rumble's accusations. A Google spokesperson stated that Rumble's claims are "incorrect" and highlighted that Rumble itself utilizes various advertising services alongside Google Ads.
The spokesperson further emphasized that Google's advertising products benefit publishers by facilitating content monetization. They pointed out that publishers using Google's tools retain the majority of the revenue generated through advertising.
Rumble vs. Google: A Continued Legal Battle
This lawsuit marks the second time Rumble has taken legal action against Google. In 2021, Rumble filed a separate lawsuit accusing Google of prioritizing its own video platform, YouTube, in search results.
The outcome of this recent lawsuit against Google's alleged dominance in digital advertising remains to be seen. However, it signifies Rumble's ongoing fight against what they perceive as unfair business practices within the online advertising industry.
